Through this course, we will learn the importance of having a Long Term Plan in place to achieve our classroom vision and big goals. We will also look at what an effective Long Term Plan looks like and create one of our own.

About the Course: Thank you for embarking on this journey. This course falls under the category Classroom Instruction. This course has 5 sections. It is meant for intermediate teachers who want to learn to prepare for a year of instruction in advance. This course will show you the advantages of preparing for a year in advance. You will identify the criteria of a strong long term plan and use that information to design your own long term plan.

Standards:

This course meets the following standards:

  • Teaching As Leadership Standards

a. B-1 Develop standards- aligned, measurable, ambitious and feasible goals that will dramatically increase students’ opportunities in life

b. P-2 Backwards- plan by breaking down longer-term goals into bundles of objectives and mapping them across the school year (in a long- term plan and unit plans)

  • CENTA Standards:

a. CD.3.1a: Knowledge of different types of planning resources and the process for creating each.

b. WP.1.3a: Ability to define goals and develop an appropriate plan to achieve them.

c. CD.3.2a: Ability to create a lesson plan/ text book chapter considering the learning objective and the classroom context.

d. CD.2.2c: Ability to use pedagogical methods that can build broader problem solving and critical thinking skills.
