Where to rent a car in Kazakhstan?

I've got a trip coming up to Kazakhstan for work. I teach at a university here and we're trying to build connections with colleagues over there so we can collaborate on some research projects. The administration thinks this partnership could benefit both our students and theirs down the line. I'll need a car to get around once I'm there since the meetings are spread across different locations in the city. Are there any reliable rental companies operating in that country?

Academic partnerships sound great on paper until you realize how much legwork goes into setting them up. Flying halfway across the world for a few meetings, dealing with time zones, trying to coordinate schedules between institutions that run on completely different systems. Still, the connections you make can open doors for grants and exchange programs later on. As for getting around, yeah, there are rental options in the bigger cities like Almaty and Astana. International chains operate there alongside local companies that usually have cheaper rates.

True, though some local places have sketchy terms buried in the contract or charge you extra fees that weren't mentioned upfront. You show up thinking you've got a straightforward rental and suddenly there's insurance you didn't know about or mileage limits nobody told you. Ends up costing way more than you budgeted for the trip. Check out car rental options in Kazakhstan here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/kazakhstan . You can browse what's available and sort by price or vehicle type. Saves you from scrambling to find transportation after you've already landed.
