Students are often looked upon as ‘leader of the future’. However, through this course, you will explore the power of students to be leaders and changemakers today! This course will expose you to a range of student leaders bringing change at a local and global level and equip you with toolkits and resources to bring the same magic alive in your classroom!
Through this course, teachers will explore the need for students to work as changemakers and how this impacts both the students and the community around them. They will deep dive into the skills, mindsets and knowledge that students develop by working for change. They will also be equipped with actionable resources to take this idea back to their classrooms.
This course consists of 5 sections:
- Section 1 : Feel - In this section, you will examine your current mindset on kids working as changemakers.
- Section 2: Imagine - In this section, you will dive deeper into the idea of kids as changemakers and why it is important. You will observe stories of kids who work as changemakers at a global and local level and identify the impact it has on them.
- Section 3: Do - In this section, you will explore toolkits and resources you can take back to your classrooms to build the muscle of changemaking and leadership in your students.
- Section 4: Share - In this section, you will look at ways to share what you have learnt about kids as changemakers and spread learnings beyond your classroom.
- Section 5: Assessment - Here we will be able to reflect on what we have learnt in this course.
Standards
Teaching as Leadership
1-2 : Develop student's rational understanding that they will benefit from achievement (“I want”) through connections between class and achievement in their lives and aspirations, statistics, creative marketing, leveraging the big goals etc.
