The teacher-student relationship forms the foundation for
classroom culture and a positive learning environment in the classroom. This
course looks at various ways in which you can build these bonds.
Thank you for embarking on this
journey. Through this course, teachers will be taken through the value of
building and sustaining positive relationships between teachers and students.
In order for students to learn from
teachers in the most effective way, the two need to know each other well and
care about each other. This relationship forms the foundation for a healthy
learning environment within the classroom.
This
course consists of 5 sections:
- Section 1: Feel: What do you feel about
building meaningful relationships with your students? In this section, we
will reflect on what we currently believe and feel about building
meaningful relationships with our students.
- Section 2: Imagine:What do these meaningful
relationships look like ,and why is it so important for me as a teacher to
invest myself in building such relationships with my kids? In this section
we’ll look at examples of meaningful teacher-student relationships, or the
lack of them, how they affect students’ academic and socio-emotional life,
and hence, why they’re so important!
- Section 3: Do:How do I build meaningful
relationships with my students? In this section we’ll explore different
strategies to practice building meaningful relationships with our
students.
- Section 4: Share: What does this mean for
other teachers in my school? In this section, we’ll explore ways that we
can share what we’ve learned with other teachers in our school.
- Section 5: Assessment:In this section, you’ll
