Multiple research studies have shown that each student has a unique set of factors that influence their learning, either positively or negatively, to different extents.  Take this course to find out what some of those factors are and how you could work to mitigate some of the negative ones and leverage the positive ones, so as to enable your students to thrive both in and outside of school.

Thank you for embarking on this journey. Through this course teachers will be able to discover some of the many factors that influence student learning (either for the better or worse) and explore ways they could help mitigate some of the negative and leverage some of the positive factors, so as to help their students thrive inside and outside of the classroom.

The course has the following 5 sections:

Section 1- Feel: In this section, you will reflect on what influences your own learning and thus see why it is important to understand factors that influence your students’ learning. You will also reflect on your current beliefs and practices of getting to know your students as learners.

Section 2- Imagine: In this section, you will examine a range of factors that influence student learning.

Section 3- Do: In this section, you will consider few action steps to support your students overcome the effects of different (negative) influences on their learning and leverage the positive ones.

Section 4- Share: In this section, you will explore different ways to share your learning about ‘influences on student learning’ with others.

Section 5- Assessment: You will take a test to gauge what you have learnt through this course.
