Reflective practice enables us to better ourselves, not just as teachers, but as people. This course explores a model to aid reflection, the benefits and importance of reflective practice and ways to implement it.

Thank you for embarking on this journey. Through this course you will learn more about reflective practice, its merits, and how you can use it to improve your classroom practice.

This course consists of 5 sections

  • Section 1: Feel:You will look at what reflection is and examine your current approach to reflection and how it relates to your practice as a teacher.
  • Section 2: Imagine:You will look at why reflection is important, what Reflective Practice is, and why and how you as a teacher, can use it.
  • Section 3: Do:You will look at a few activities that could help develop your Reflective Practice and practice doing Reflective Practice.
  • Section 4: Share:You’ll think of how you can share your learning so as to encourage your colleagues to engage in reflective practice as teachers and individuals
  • Section 5: Assessment:You will take an assessment to gauge what you have learned about Reflective Practice.

Standards: This course meets the following standards:

1. Teaching as Leadership:

C-3 Isolate the teacher actions most contributing to key aspects of student performance by gathering data (e.g., using the TAL rubric) and reflecting on teacher performance

2. CENTA:

SD.1.1a: Ability to reflect on your strengths, areas of improvement and teaching practices.
