KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE - THE CHILD SAFETY MODULE

Firki, in partnership with HAQ: Centre for Child Rights and Arpan, is proud to launch the Child Safety Module.

With UN’s SDG 16.2 stating ‘End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence and torture of children’ and NEP 2020’s focus on creating ‘Awareness, Sensitization and Capacity Building of Child Protection Committees, Teachers and School Staff’, Firki, in partnership with HAQ: Centre for Child Rights and ARPAN, has come up with a series of courses on understanding and prevention of child sexual abuse. The courses aim at equipping educators with the knowledge, skills and mindset required to respond to cases of sexual abuse in the classroom and community.

The module includes 4 courses that will cover the following aspects:

  • Child Sexual Abuse; What we need to know.

  • Prevention of Children against Sexual Offenses (POCSO - The law process)

  • Handling disclosure: What to do if a child discloses sexual abuse against them.

  • Stakeholder awareness: How an educator can educate stakeholders about CSA and POCSO

Each of the modules is designed with the motive to create awareness around CSA and POCSO for our educators so as to be better prepared in preventing such cases in the classroom and creating an environment of support for children to open up.
